How do you cope with magic that goes its own way?

As a second year FBI academy witch, Agatha Blackmore has a certain reputation. After nearly blowing up the school, an untended mid-air incident involving the FBI Director, and declaring war with the US Marines, she has to wonder if she will even see graduation.

But when a rash of mysterious disappearances catches the attention of local authorities Agatha finds herself asked to lend a hand to the investigation. Determined to offer protection where it is needed the most, Agatha and her quirky roommate Cat along with her mini- unicorn familiar Fergus, attempt to unravel the mysteries of the four distinctly magical disappearances before time runs out.

Does Agatha have what it takes to be an agent? Or will everyone that crosses her end up eating chicken feed for the rest of their lives?

Conjuring Quantico is the first book in a brand new Urban Fantasy by T. S. Paul.
As a direct sequel to Born a Witch... Drafted by the FBI, T. S. Paul returns with the first book of the Federal Witch Series!

Working for the FBI is one thing. Working for a quasi-secret branch of it is another. What happens when members of your own organization don’t recognize you?

I am the one and only, FBI Agent in the Magickal Crimes division. That confuses some of my fellow Agents, but I can deal with that. Harder to cope with is the increasing monsters sightings that keep me traveling constantly.

Dealing with Government bureaucracy is not something I’m comfortable with. Especially when a sea monster is terrorizing the New Jersey shore. Trying to piece together clues, dealing with corrupt law enforcement, or just trying to get along with the locals, I am busy and anything but bored. Outnumbered, sometimes outgunned, backed by inexperienced and skeptical help, all I can do is my best.

It is exciting and challenging.

Either the FBI or the monster is about to become fish food. I just have to decide which one comes first.

Snippet Time. Here's a taste from the Path to Hell

<<Unedited>>

There was a loud clunk and the door to Beta Command hissed open. Bakes quickly stepped inside and sealed the door behind her.

“Private Bakes, did you have something to report?” Lieutenant Blue asked.

Saluting, Bakes explained Alphas situation.

The lieutenant nodded. “Are they triggering the fail safe?”

Bakes blinked. Fail safe? “Sir, what’s the fail safe?”

Lieutenant Blue shook his head. “Come with me.”

Following the officer private Bakes left the entrance portal and stepped into the control room. Unlike Alpha this one was at least twenty years newer and much more spacious. Over a dozen soldiers sat behind monitoring stations firing at the Demons.

Stopping for a moment she watched as the controller targeted a larger group of Cambion Demons crawling out of the hole. The 40mm cannons he controlled were strong enough to seriously wound the group, scattering them. The crosshairs on the screen shifted to the next group sweeping across the lower half of the Captain Demon. The shells bounced off like they were made of rubber.

“Sir. Lieutenant Blue, sir? Sergeant House sent me to tell you. He said… He said…” The Private paused and looked at another monitor. Like the other it was wreaking havoc on the lower Demons but couldn’t touch the big one.

The Lieutenant reached out and grabbed Private Bakes’s shirt collar. “Over here private.” He dragged her to a table at the back of the room.

“The Demons…” She pointed at the screens.

“I know. We can’t stop them. This base was built to slow them down. We’re the sacrifice needed to save the Nation,” Blue explained.

Bakes looked up at the main monitor. The interior of the bowl was lit up like the fourth of July. It was an abattoir of blood and pain. Dozens, hundreds, thousands of Demons were pouring forth from the hole. For every hundred killed one or two survived to create the steps. A virtual pyramid of living beings were to be steps to enable the Captain his freedom.

“The fail safe was something the eggheads thought up at the end of the war. Immolation. At first they loaded the tanks with white phosphorus and napalm. Studies showed that the Demons might survive that so they switched to plasma a few years ago. No idea how they knew the original stuff wouldn’t work. Your section had control of it,” Blue pointed to the screen. “See the nozzles next to the guns? That is the fail safe. If it works it will kill the initial force and give Delta and Gamma time to set up. There is only so much ammunition in the world private.”

A bright flash caught Bakes attention as the last 90mm gun exploded. The Demons roared and surged ever forward toward the stairs they were building.

“Concentrate all fire on the hole. Slow them down as much as possible!”

Witching Hour, book one of The Fairy Locket series is Free this weekend!

What would you do if you lost it all?

Rebecca was your not so normal everyday college kid. School was almost over, and that meant she would start training to take over her mother’s coven. That didn’t mean she wanted to, but she had years of brutal training to endure before she would be shackled by that responsibility. Hopefully, years where she wasn’t forced to live at home like she was now. That no boys in the house rule was the worst.

No boys seemed liked the worst that could happen, but that was before her family was attacked. Now Rebecca would give anything to be part of her family’s drama again, but that wasn’t possible, not with Ash on her tail. Staying two steps in front of Ash’s torturous pursuit had become her life’s only goal. Each day was a chance to bury the past. Nothing else mattered except keeping her mother’s grimoire safe.

Finding sleepy little Salem, Oregon might just be the key to her salvation. Although, Salem was harboring a few secrets of its own, and one of those secrets hated when witches stepped foot inside her city unannounced. What happens when Salem’s dirty little secret and the new witch in town collide?

(I'll be posting about that one soon) Naomi is a prolific writer and excels at shorter fiction, the kind you can read on your phone. She recently started writing mysteries as well as some Science fiction themed pieces. This is one such series.

Check out my Book of the Week! A Canadian Werewolf in NY!

I met Mark in Austin Texas last year at the Smarter Artists writers conference. I always try to help out a friend when I can. Take a look at this one! I know I am.

Writer. Werewolf. Canadian.

Michael Andrews seems to have it all. He's a successful author and a minor celebrity living in Manhattan. It's a pretty big step up from his humble Canadian upbringing. Of course, his lycanthropy poses a bit of a challenge. After waking up from his latest night on the town, he's naked, he's got a bullet hole in his leg, and he has a sneaking suspicion he ran into another wolf last night.

If he's going to make an evening talk show appearance to promote his latest book, he'll need to figure out what happened the previous night without letting his occasional heroics get in the way. Standing in his way are an agent, an ex-girlfriend, a variety of goons, and a fellow wolf encroaching on his territory.

It's just another day in the life of a polite, small-town Canadian trying to stay alive in the Big Apple.

A Canadian Werewolf in New York is a humorous thriller about an ordinary man dealing with extraordinary circumstances. If you like seeing an everyman try to "do right" no matter the odds, then you'll love this suspenseful and comedic tale of a Canadian bumpkin who happens to be part wolf.

If a crazy monster wasn't enough she's spotted members of the Wild Hunt in town. Fae warriors and humans do not mix well together. No one else has the power or the means to make a lick of difference in the coming battle.

<<Unedited>>  This is from a soon to be released part of the Badger Hole Bar

Agatha watched Fergus as he danced around on the floor, darting among the boots of spacemen and the softer shoes of the nonmilitary types that were drinking in the Badger Hole Bar. At first, she had no idea why he was traveling such a labyrinth pathway but then realized something. Shadowing him and carefully staying about three feet away was the spiderkat. The creature seemed obsessed with Fergus. And her Familiar knew it.
Even knowing that Fergus could not be permanently harmed by the creature, Agatha had started to rise from her chair to go to his rescue when the short, Mongolian-looking man sitting next to her put his hand lightly on her forearm.
“No harm will come to your partner. Clingon is interested and intrigued. He will do no harm although I think they are both playing a game.”
Agatha stopped moving and looked at the man, saying, “All right, I guess I can stop worrying. It is just that I’m not used to him running around in a crowd of people like this.”
“Perhaps, it is that he feels the same sense of safety here that most of us feel.”
“He has been safe before and hasn’t acted like this. I was just worried about why he was acting so strangely.”
The man made a tight, twisted grimace that the young witch could not interpret and settled a bit deeper into his seat. Cocking his head and looking carefully at Agatha, he said, “Some of it also may be a difference in perceptions and acceptance. Here, he is not an oddity but simply his own being. He is not the weirdest or most outrageous being in the room, so he does not stand out. Also, he sees that all that come here are accepted as who they are without judgment.”
Agatha had opened her mouth to say something and stopped. Thinking about what the man had said, she realized that Fergus was always “her” familiar. Very seldom was he treated as his own person. A flash of guilt ran through her as she realized that in some ways she treated Fergus as if he was only an extension of her rather than a fully separate being. It is too easy to start thinking that way, she thought to herself.
Turning her eyes back to the unicorn, she saw that he was now up on the game table next to one of the card players. The table had been full of card players for the entire time that Agatha and Fergus had been in the bar, rotating people as they came and went. It was in a shadowed back corner, an island of ordered interaction that seemed to absorb any attempt to disrupt it.
Barely visible in the subtle lighting, the spiderkat clung to the wall less than six feet from the table. His glowing eyes tracked the blue-maned unicorn, and his tail twitched with every movement that Fergus made.
Fergus was intently watching the hand of one of the players, silent but alert. That in itself was weird enough that Agatha started once more to go check on him. The gentle hand on her forearm stopped her again.
Looking from the hand up to its owner’s face, she asked the short, yellow-skinned man, “Is it something that you wanted?”
Desperately praying that he was not hitting on her, Agatha was surprised when he said, “Yes. I understand that you are here partially to explore some options for training and education, just like your friend Zhanna.”
Relieved, Agatha responded, “Yes, my responsibilities at home are changing, and it has been very made very plain to me that while I have good power in my magic and have been trained in certain areas of knowledge, that I need more of both. If I am to not let my team down, I need to develop different skills and also train my magic use for different tactical solutions.”
“Then I am correct in that your objectives are to broaden your understanding of strategy and increase your skills of field command. Yes?”
“Yes, mostly. I am not in a mercenary position, nor am I really dealing with large strategic battles. However, I need to understand how to manage and deploy my team in conflict situations, and I don’t think that I am the best I can be right now.”
Just then the cheerful waitress zoomed over to the table and flashed them a big smile.
Agatha couldn’t help smiling back at her, and she noticed that her companion was also responding with a small grin. The warmth and caring that radiated off the waitress was something that no one seemed to resist. Agatha felt her body relaxing for the first time in a long time, and she took a deep breath.
The waitress asked, “Time for refills?”
When both Agatha and her companion nodded their heads in agreement, the waitress, whose name was Wynn, asked, “Same thing for both of you?”
Once again, Wynn got their nods of acceptance, and with the speed of a darting bee, the woman was off at a run back to the bar for their drinks. Calling ahead to the bartender as she moved, the woman announced, “Brechal, I need a refill on white wine and a tankard of Arkhi!”
Agatha still had a smile on her face when she turned back to her companion. It suddenly occurred to her that she didn’t even know the man’s name. Unsure about how to ask him tactfully, the young witch just bumbled through it, face red in embarrassment. “I am terribly sorry, but I don’t know your name. My name is Agatha
The man smiled, and said, “Most of my friends call me Subu or Wardog. You may choose what you prefer.”

Snippet Time! Check out this Snippet from the Upcoming book, The Wild Hunt.

<Unedited>

“Before you fall asleep tell me about this hunt thing?”

Gramps cocked one eye in my direction. “Fine, but I want another serving.”

“How about you wait until morning and then you can have some more.” His stomach must have been a never-ending pit if he thought he could fit more inside of it right now.

“One more tonight, and two more in the morning.”

The damn little pixie knew that he had me where he wanted me, but that didn’t mean I had to give in completely. “On one condition.” I poked him gently in the belly. “You don’t sleep in the necklace tonight.”

“But why?”

“Every time you fart, the damn thing vibrates and wakes me up. If you eat any more, we both know what we are in for.”

Gramps sighed. “Yeah, but it’s so worth it.”

Maybe it was worth it for him. For me the smell and the vibrations made it a deal breaker. “So, do we have a deal?”

“A bargain has been struck,” Gramps intoned.

I started working on his next offering as he tried to roll onto his side. After a few unsuccessful attempts, he gave up and just lay there. “So I ask you again, and you’ve sworn to divulge the truth. What’s the deal with this hunt he was talking about?”

“It’s not this hunt or that hunt. It is the wild hunt. The hunt is the most important thing that happens for our people outside the confines of Tir Na Nog. Every hundred years the masters are given one night to hunt. If they don’t complete their task by the dawn’s light they return in failure and all our people suffer.”

There was something tickling in the back of my mind, but it couldn’t be that wild hunt. That was just a myth. Sure it was a myth shared by a lot of cultures in different countries, but it was still just a myth. Or was it?

“Gramps, are you trying to tell me a death omen has been cast over my city?”

The little pixie waved one hand lazily as if he were trying to banish a bad idea. “That’s just something those humans made up. Blame the fairies for all that death. How about take a shower and don’t let the rats into your homes. Of course not, let’s blame the magical beings that live in another realm. Typical. You know how many humans we saved by intervening?”

“Gramps, you’re getting off track.” The sugar must have really been getting to him, he was never this forthcoming with information. I hoped the next bowl didn’t send him into diabetic overload. I still had more questions.

I set his newest offering down in front of him. He looked at the bowl and smiled but still couldn’t manage to stand up. His wings beat weakly against the counter and then he fell back down in exhaustion.

“The wild hunt doesn’t come to spread death. It’s just the opposite really. The wild hunt exists to bring new life.”

I nudged the bowl closer to where Gramps was lying on the counter. “So there isn’t anything to worry about.”

“Not as long as you stay out of their way. The hunt master will not appreciate it if you interfere.” Gramps made it to his feet, but his giant brownie belly made him stagger from side to side like a drunk.

“Why do they call it a hunt then if they don’t kill anything?”

“You humans are always so literal. There are all kinds of ways to hunt that don’t end in death. Plus killing is the last thing they want to do; they are here to take something back to Tir Na Nog. So killing would defeat their purpose.”

I pulled the bowl back from Gramps forcing him to stagger forward a few more steps before he could grab the edge with his hand. “Just get to the point already. Why are they here?”

“For the children of course.” Gramps started to pull himself up the side of the bowl.

“The children!” I knocked Gramps off the bowl and pulled it away from him. “That’s a huge problem, Gramps. We can’t let them come to Salem and steal people’s kids.”

“Why not?” Gramps looked completely confused by my outburst. “It’s not like we could stop the hunt even if we tried.” Gramps eyed the bowl full of dessert that I was now clutching against my chest.

“What do you mean why not? It’s wrong to take someone else children.”

Gramps looked up at me unsure of how to handle my outburst. “Something humans have done to each other for thousands of years. In fact, it’s a practice still going on today.” Gramps gave me the look that said I was about to get a history lecture but then he stopped himself and continued speaking.
“It’s the way it’s always been done, child.” A subtle reminder that Gramps was older and wiser than I was. “There are only so many fairies in Tir Na Nog, and they are at war with one another. We need the human stock to replenish our family lines. Otherwise our entire race would fall, or worse yet we might end up like those banjo guys.”

What in the hell was he talking about now? “Banjo Guys?”

“You know, like that movie we saw.” He strummed his fingers and imitated someone playing banjo. “Anyways, we needed to introduce new blood into our lines. Otherwise we would all be someone’s brother, sister, or cousin.”
